The school has many partnerships to continually improve the quality of teaching and learning in our school.

Reading Blue Coat School

We benefit from a close relationship with Reading Blue Coat School, who support us in a number of ways. Examples of this support include using the grounds and facilities for key events, and staff and pupils leading clubs or sessions for the pupils.

Forest Learning Alliance

The Forest Learning Alliance (FLA) is a career-stage CPD provider for educationalists and support staff covering all phases and settings. The FLA work with an Alliance of schools, and other educational professionals across Berkshire and the South of England.

At Sonning, we work with the FLA for some CPD elements and for our School Direct trainee teachers (linked with the University of Reading).

Signature at Sonning

We enjoy a strong connection with the local care home, and visit as regularly as we can to interact with the residents. Recent examples of our activities are singing to the residents at Christmas, interviewing the residents for an English unit and engaging in shared Autumn and art activities.

Community Links

We are very proud to be part of this idyllic village. As well as using various aspects of the local community, like Ali’s Pond in St George’s Field to support curriculum work, the school also enjoy contributing to a number of community events such as hosting the annual village Show, rounders tournament, the bi-annual scarecrow trail, and services and activities at St. Andrew’s Church.
