60 For 60 Initiative

The 60 For 60 Initiative was launched in 2025, to acknowledge the school's 60th birthday on its current site in Liguge Way.
Our school’s roots stretch back much further but, since 1962, generations of children have passed through this building’s doors - learning, growing and thriving and, crucially, building strong foundations for the years ahead. More importantly, those pupils have built strong foundations for the years ahead. Sixty years of dedicated staff, loving families and a community committed to giving every child the best possible start. We are proud of that legacy, and now we are looking to the future.
Our vision is clear: Building Strong Foundations for the Years Ahead. And now, we’re inviting family members, extended community and business partners to help us to build those strong foundations not just for now, but for the years ahead, with our 60 For 60 Initiative.
What is the 60 For 60 initiative?
60 For 60 is a simple idea which promises a big impact. We’re asking families to consider donating £5 a month, every month, which will make a £60 donation per parent, per year. However, there are also opportunities to pay more per month, or pay annually. Every contribution, at any level, will go directly towards enhancing our children’s learning and development: resources in classrooms, opportunities beyond the curriculum and projects that bring learning to life.
For businesses, we are seeking funding from 8 companies who will become principle partners in this innovative initiative, and will benefit from being a part of this fundraiser and enjoy additional business-beneficial opportunities as part of this donation.
If all our families donated £5 per month each, we could bring in over £12,500 per year in additional funds. This would make an incredible difference and, when combined with the business funding we will be seeking to match this amount, we could bring in £25,000 per year, if not more.
So why give to us?
By giving to us you are investing in our children, our community and the generations who will thrive because of the education we put in place. Your gift will help shape a future where every child has the chance to succeed through the education we deliver.
- It’s about making sure they have access to the best possible resources and opportunities.
- It’s about helping them discover their talents, build their confidence and develop the skills they need to succeed - not just in school, but in life.
- And it’s about investing in a school community that’s ambitious, nurturing and deeply committed to every child’s success.
We know not everyone can give. And if £5 a month isn’t possible, we understand. But if you can (or you can give more per month) and you believe in the difference we can make together, then 60 For 60 is your opportunity to play a part in building something lasting, unique and impactful.
What are we asking for?
We are seeking a £5 per month subscription donation per child at Sonning. There are options for donating more if you wish to, or donating annually rather than monthly.
Schools across the country are struggling financially. Even though we are a high-performing and well-respected school in the top 1% of schools in the country, we are not immune from these pressures. We invest heavily in staffing and resources to enable us to deliver a personalised and impactful curriculum to our pupils (as well as provide all the other opportunities), and therefore we need additional funding to continue this model and continue to provide all the extras for our pupils.
Our commitment to you
You will be giving up your hard-earned income to us, and we recognise this. Whilst we need you to trust that we will spend the money as we see fit to best benefit the educational outcomes of the pupils, we will report in broad terms how we have spent the money each year and put plaques up where possible to highlight the impact of the donations. This is something incredibly exciting to be a part of, and has the opportunity to make a difference for generations to come.
Funding will be spent in two specific ways:
- Experiences and opportunities: Events, visitors, enrichment days, performances and curriculum-linked trips.
- Lasting improvements: Redevelopment of outdoor spaces such as the forest school (formerly the allotment), new sports and playground equipment, enhanced classroom environments and resources (including staffing) for the school.
How to donate
You will soon be able to donate on our donations page.
* Please note that the 60 For 60 Fund does not cover the cost of class trips.
