5 BU I LD I NG STRONG FOUNDAT I ONS FOR THE YEARS AHEAD Positioned in the heart of Sonning, the school plays an increasingly large role in the local community. In addition to very close links with Reading Blue Coat school and Piggott school in Wargrave, Sonning school is part of the Reading University School Partnership and we welcome trainee teachers throughout the year. There is a close and special relationship with the parish church of St Andrew’s, with carefully planned school services there and members of the clergy regularly lead collective worship in the school. The annual Sonning Show is hosted at the school in the Summer and children partake in the village Rounders tournament, the bi-annual Scarecrow trail, as well as visiting the local Mill House theatre and Sunrise care home. Other close partnerships include the Bracknell Sports Partnership which provides sport coaching and inter-school competitions. The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families develops educational research with a range of organisations and the Future Thinking Partnership is a group of local Head Teachers working in collaboration to raise standards of teaching and learning.
